BIRDCAGE FASHION: OAKS & STAKES DAY
When ever you're about to go up in the air, why not travel lightly with a fellow friend… JUNO
Ladies day, the most elegant and glamorous day of the Spring Racing Carnival has come and gone: Oaks Day. Although it was raining the ladies were on their A game, pulling out the florals and 1950’s silhouettes to create elegance at it’s best. We saw floral and lace within the marquees with not a dull colour in sight, and of course master piece fascinators in action.
On the day I was lucky enough to wear a beautiful up-cycled outfit by 2nd Year Kangan Student Nadya Allsop; the materials for which were supplied by Redcross. My crown as well, another up-cycled beauty created by millinery kangan student lizzie: Saluki and Skimmer… Cool huh! Such talented students.
As an ambassador for ANTLER luggage, I was given the awesome opportunity to cover the spring style present at each of the marquees.
The beautiful Jennifer Hawkins caught my eye in the Myer Marquee wearing a mega statement dress in a crisp ice blue with on trend flared sleeves. Created by the one and only Toni Maticevski - it was figure hugging and pieced with a perfectly fitting blue floral crown by Viktoria Novak. Finished off with a basic nude heel with fringed detailing on the back - undoubtedly an absolutely smashing outfit!
Word on the street was that Brody Jenner was the eye candy of the day at the G.H Mumm Marquee, and though I did adventure in there I think I missed him by two seconds (dang!) . Looking dapper as ever, and not to mention the cool kicks he was reppin' in the birdcage.
The Swisse Marquee was a burst of colour, with a china theme and playing host to Ashley Hart in a beautiful sky blue number with intricate sequinned embellishments. I'm in love with the gem detailed buttons down the back of the dress…
Emirates took me back to when I was in London last year, with its 'HELLO ENGLAND' theme inside Buckingham Palace. Yes, I have been there (the queen away on holiday every summer and they open it up) and the rich velvet carpets with giant florals and the beautiful display of wall paintings took me right back. The only thing that was missing was the mirrors. My adventures in the Marquee’s also included having my hair done by Joey Scandizzo salon and a make-up touch up from YSL which was absolutely awesome. As well to top off your experience, they had dancing british guards who danced to the likes of iconic english girl band spice girls.
So with out further ado, here are my Foxy Picks for the day:

The last day of the fun but hectic whirlwind of the exciting carnival, Stakes day is something of a family day. All taking a more relaxed suits, women turned out in playsuits and even some in trousers, while the younger tweens took the opportunity, as they do, to bust out formal-esque dresses and chunky heels. I couldn’t dare to wear heels till I was eighteen, but they all looked stylish as ever.
And that's all foxes! Until next year…..
Special thanks to….
