They say it's the race that stops the nation, but in the fashion world it's a race of its own. Launching the Spring racing season is the most prestigious day of all - Derby Day. The Birdcage played host to an array of individually styled marquees by the likes of Lavazza, Lexus, Emirates, Myer and more.
As an ambassador for ANTLER luggage, I was given the awesome opportunity to cover the spring style present at each of the marquees
A personal highlight was definitely The Lavazza marquee, which was beautifully themed to celebrate the six masters of Italian amid-century design. Although the day begun slightly drizzly, it progressed into beautiful rays of sunshine which is typical of Melbourne weather; but it fitted in with the Schweppes marquee theme: 'Lost in London'.
With thoughts of Lavazza espresso martinis and perhaps an Aperol Spritz, I plunged in to check out what the Birdcage really had to offer. Inside the Birdcage was awash with stunning racing style and I could not help but look at the beauty in everyone's outfits. women flaunted largely monochromatic outfits with complimenting headpieces; not one ensemble was out of order. I couldn't help but be slightly starstruck as global celebrities such as Hilary Swank and Jennifer Hawkins (wearing a crisp white ensemble from the one and only Alex Perry with hat by Ann Shoebridge) walked by casually, of course with umbrella in hand. .
Emma Notarfrancesco, social ambassador for LaVazza, rocked an awesome black Sass & Bide two piece. With the ever so subtle laced detail peaking out from her flares finished off with her hat by Mimco, she was definitely on point.
