VAMFF 2017: Stonnington High Tea
The annual City of Stonnington High Tea, supported by the Australian Women’s Weekly celebrated Australian designers in style. Location for the morning was inside the elegant Malvern Town Hall. Setting the vibe of a European style runway show right here in Melbourne.
The runway shows were split into two segments with guest speakers on after each show. One speaker, I found particularly memorable was Bel from Once Was, who described her Autumn/Winter collection as influenced by her father.
Once Was took a spin on the classic essential shirt, mixing it up with detailed flared and ruffle sleeves, which we all agreed on the table we needed every shirt from the collection. There were also stunning leather pieces from the collection that looked buttery soft on the models as they paraded down the runway in leather luxe skirts, dresses and jackets inspiring us and giving us a new reason to layer with our coats this winter. My absolute favourite outfit from the collection was a shearling jacket that was utter perfection. Paired with leather pants, the outfit left me dreaming of the places I’d go wearing it.
I also found out about a few new brands on the day, DIDDA, Luxe Deluxe and Lisa Barron, and saw old favourites such as Feathers, Megan Park, Leona Edmiston and Alannah Hill.
