Sammy is 20 years old and when she was 15 she knew straight away that she had to be in the fashion industry. Sammy aways wanted to create and over the years her dreams finally became a reality.
Having never heard of Kangan before, but when her best friend attended the year before, she attended a few open days with her friend expressing her love for Kangan as well. With her advice, she signed up for fashion design and hasn't looked back since.
Sammy enjoys all of the elements, from all the hands on work and theory, helping her for the real world of fashion.
Congratulations, you've graduated! Tell us your experience studying fashion design at Kangan? What are your fashion moments?
This experience has been a roller coaster, to say the least but it's been the best three years of life and I wouldn't change a thing even the
bad things!
The best moment would have to be seeing my hard work up on the runway. It had been a dream come true when the model walked up on the catwalk I burst into tears !! But, also a contributing factor were my lifelong friends I have made through the years at Kangan, without all the support I honestly don't think I would have gone through these last years and accomplished what I have without them
I love them all!
Some assignments were huge and time-consuming and such a pain, but everything we do is for some reason for learning I'd reflect back and say to myself "how can I benefit from these long ass assignments?"
For your final collection, what was your inspiration behind it, and how long did it take you to complete?
my collection is called "Blowout" the story behind it was the oil spills and slicks happening in our oceans, but I based it solely off
the deep water horizon spill off the coast of new Mexico. Then I turned the oil slicks into original designs of marbling, which is based on my collection , Production wise we only have been around 2 months to bring these garments to life , so it was safe to say we were all stressed.
