VAMFF 2018: GALA RUNWAY Presented by David Jones, Supported by Vogue Australia
VAMFF 2018 kicked off in style, with the opening of the Gala Runway Presented by David Jones, Supported by Vogue Australia Monday night in the magnificent Royal Exhibition Building, the first building in Australia to achieve a World Heritage listing.
Socialist and VAMFF Special Guest Kassandra Clementi, Nadia Bartel, Carrie Bickmore, Nadia Fairfax to name a few, as well as fashionistas, gathered to watch the runway of the largest designer line up and showcasing collections from the country’s best designers. Jessica Gomes unveiled the latest collections alongside special guest, Montana Cox who made her return to the VAMFF runway this year.
The night commenced with Vera Blue, singing live and set the mood for the night with her hit song Lady Powers. Her unique voice echoed throughout the Royal Exhibition as the models strutted down the runway in the latest designs David Jones has to offer this winter.
A few notable favourites of mine that were featured on the night were Macgraw, Scanlan Theodore, Thurley and Viktoria and Woods.
The top three trends I noticed were colour pop, relaxed suiting and 'Calabasas' like streetwear. What's that you ask? it's fashion-forward, relaxed and practical pieces designed to take you to from the studio to the street, it's a mix of the 90's hip-hop fashion and sports luxe together for winter 2018.
