A slice of Paris has landed at Chadstone. The world famous macaron tea room Ladurée.
Originally dating back to 1862 in France, this is the brand’s first ever Melbourne store. Ladurée is located inside Chadstone, in a transparent dome where sandwiches and tea or coffee can be enjoyed with friends.
It's special, making you feel like you’re inside a sweet jewellery box. To celebrate their arrival they collaborated with fashion illustrator Kerrie Hess to design unique Macaroon boxes that were sent out to us, filled with tiny pastel coloured, ganache filled delights.
Ladurée rose to fame in 1930 when his grandson, Pierre Desfontaines, had the original idea of the double-decker - sticking two macaron shells together with a creamy ganache filling.
Desfontaines opened a tearoom at the original pastry shop in Paris. It was a huge success because back then, ladies were not admitted to cafés. They were the exclusive domain of men, but Desfontaines’ tearoom brought freedom to the ladies, they no longer had to have tea in their own homes.
What was once a mystical tale, told only by those who had visited overseas, will now be enjoyed right here in Melbourne.
