Laser hair removal; it’s something that crosses everyone’s mind, especially mine. I’ve always dreamt of what it’d feel like not shave every day, the horrible bleeding nips from the shaver, the rapid European growth after 5 hours of shaving. I was over it, every time I’d put up my arm during summer I’d have this 12 o’clock shadow hovering around my armpit, not to mention small nips and the discolouration that the blade of the shave would do.
Enough was enough, so I took the plunge and did it! I teamed up with Australian Laser & Skin Clinics in Ivanhoe to start the removal of this annoying hairy friend!
Over the course of eight treatments, I’ll undergo with Australian Laser & Skin Clinics. Being a company that has established just over 17 years ago, They have performed well over 2 million treatments at their Melbourne laser clinics. Staffed by a team of doctors, registered nurses and paramedical trained clinicians who are laser safety certified.
Firstly you’re welcomed by their wonderful staff, you have your first consultation before any treatment is commenced, this is a talk through about the procedure, laser, the outcome, will it work for you, if you’re on any medication and after treatment.
What laser do they use?
They operate with TGA and FDA approved Class 4 medical grade lasers and machinery, using Medical Grade Candela Gentlelase.
What does the laser do?
The laser is converted into heat energy that destroys the root within the follicle and prevents future growth.
Who is doing the treatment?
It’s performed by a laser safety certified clinician
How does it feel?
For me, I only felt slight nips when they used the laser under my arm, and it’s over as quick as it starts. It’s less painful than waxing.
I wish I had done this sooner! The results after one treatment were amazing, four weeks in and the hair had shed and it hasn’t grown back, but it will when I’m due for another session. I’m hair free for eight weeks, I can’t wait till its permanent and I’ll never have to worry about shaving my underarm again!
